I'm Marko (he/him but realistically any pronoun is fine), a 15 year old high school student living in Naples with a strong passion for computer science, trains, statistics, and anything that relates to information or moving stuff!!!!

also yeah i am autistic, high probability of ADHD too, and i'm a furry (no OC yet because i absolutely suck at drawing :< ).

I started getting into IT in general when i was literally 7. I still remember that first time, i was sitting still, in awe, watching an old semi-dismantled desktop computer someone threw in a dumpster near the autism assessment centre :sob: today i'm a fat ass laying in bed writing stories about myself on an unknown corner of the web xD

I started doing a minimal web development carreer at the old age of 11 first on Carrd.io and then on Neocities, where i got to learn HTML and CSS.
They are my absolute favourite thing to write today!!

Flash forward to when i'm 14, i decide to start doing some serious webmastering, so on June 26th 2025 (according to the whois database) i bought my first domain, Alscade.net, named off of my web nickname at the time.
That site doesn't really exist anymore, but just know that it wasn't any different than MarkoFiume.com except that it was way less trafficked.

On February 19th 2026 (2 days after i painfully broke up with my boyfriend btw) i bought this domain.
This time i decided to use my real full name, Marko Fiume, instead of my nickname, for some weird reason i don't remember, but it's kinda about identity and like i don't feel great browsing as an alter ego, so i decided to just use my full name online everywhere.

1. Please introduce yourself.: Hello, i'm Marko, 15, italian, furry, audhd, likes trains and computers
2. How long have you been making websites?: Well i've had my first "website" of sorts (on Carrd.io) at the age of 11, so quite some time!
3. And what got you into the hobby?: Idk really xD i just love the internet in its nature
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?: I like personal websites where ppl just talk about themselves and stuff they like :D
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?: Hmm no not really, i do generally have a view of what my website will look like, but then it always happens that i change my mind throughout the process ;-;
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.: So far i've had quite a few versions of my website, each with different inspirations. The first one was inspired by newspapers in general, the 2nd one by the Windows Longhorn themes, the 3rd one was jus made up on the spot and the 4th one (this one) is directly inspired by DOSSHELL.
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?: Visual design and CSS :D
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?: Getting ideas for what to put on the site itself-
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?: Yea i do- sounds boring but that's the only way i can keep myself sane ;-;
10. How confident are you with CSS?: Very much confident!
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?: Eh, roughly. It's a rarely used tag and i often forget how to properly use it.
12. What is your favourite HTML element?: Hmm idrk, never thought of that, IDRK XD sorry
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?: I'd first think of the content itself (text, images, etc.) and at the same time i might focus on styling my page (if it's a standalone page i'd most likely theme it according to the page's topic)
14. Do you know JavaScript?: Not enough for me to develop frontend without external support
15. How about PHP?: I'm good enough on PHP! Still gotta learn alot tho
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?: You mean visual theme? Yeah, i always do. As for topics? Not at all, this site doesn't really have a main topic outside of "this website is mine"
17. Are you more focused on content or design?: Realistically design but i should really focus on content lol
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?: Yeah i do, two actually (well the 2nd one hasnt been used in a year lmao)
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?: They're cool!! even though they're sometimes full of retro web clichés (not cliques, clichés)
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?: I personally try to keep it as valid as possible. I often do check that my HTML is valid with the official parsers.
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?: They're cute, especially banners! We need a lot more banners on the web
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?: Unnecessary, idk if it's just me but they are kinda overwhelming, i'd like a button wall only if it's neatly organised and ik what im looking at
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?: Both :3
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?: Very much so-
25. What text editor do you use?: OSS Codium (fork of VS Code)!
26. Why do you use that one?: Because VS Code is the best richest editor + OSS Codium makes it FOSS
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?: I used to host them locally when i was self-hosting at home. Now i still do but since i only have 100GB on my VPS storage i'm trying to keep guard of my available space lols
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?: Didn't really know those 2 platforms were being debated. I guess each one has their own benefits lol, you choose, just don't make a fuss like some intellectuals on bluesky do
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?: I don't need to estimate, i can just measure: at the time of writing this i'm taking up exactly 123212660 bytes on raw payload, or about 117.5 MiB (mebibytes).
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?: I do not but i should. The reason i don't is mainly that i always edit my site live on the server which makes local backups obsolete in the matter of seconds sometimes.
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?: I love a good balance between virtuosism and practicality.
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?: I always clamp my visuals to a certain colour palette. It just keeps everything flush and satisying.
33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?: Yeah, sometimes making and maintaning websites is hard lol. Back in the days when i used to self-host my website this was much more common, now that i have someone else's computer do the dirty work i can sit back and relax a bit more lol
34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?: I never had any friends, let alone webmaster friends :<
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?: Yeah very much! Mostly half of my school (through hearsay) and the teachers in my class.
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?: All my updates are live, so i can't really say i "update" my website, it's constantly changing.
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?: I change my design quite a lot: the longest time i waas running one version/theme of my website was barely 2 months lmao!
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?: My website is everything-focused, which paradoxically makes it nothing-focused. It's just.. there, yk? Nothing really special XD
39. Do you do web design professionally?: Nope
40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?: I do not 'work' in the normal sense (i'm a student) and yeah i would like to do web design for buck!
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?: Yeah i do! I love email
42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?: OK so i did quit social media, but it was a long time ago and before i had anything serious to do with the outside web.
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?: I quit Discord and Telegram, Matrix has a grand total of 3 registered users, and my go-to is WhatsApp.
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?: I do! They're jus my usual rap/hiphop artists, and often italian
45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?: Can't rlly afford economically and psychologically to have more than one website lmao
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?: I have no topic :3
47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?: I quit constructing online personas quite some time ago. Now i just use my real name and face online.
48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?: Nope, so far all the ppl (that i know personally) that saw my website were left in some weird state of contagious confusion, or half disgust. sad
49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?: I guess so, sometimes they are a bit too verbose tho
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?: Using too much JavaScript (to the point that even my fairly powerful laptop starts to lag and crash) or using JS when there are perfectly working alternatives
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?: Optimizing for storage, bandwidth and performance.
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?: I do use alot of semantic HTML when needed: on my site i use header, main, footer, aside and lots of others.
53. Do you consider different browsers?: No i don't, BUT to compensate i force myself to stick to only the official CSS and HTML standards and norms. So far my website has worked in every modern browser i had access to!
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.: Floorp. I'm too tired to convince u to use it lmao, just try it and thank me later
55. And what OS are you on?: Debian Linux. I used to use Arch like every popular kid, but after some time i realised it's way too unstable and/or hard to maintain than a streamlined distro like Debian or Ubuntu.
56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?: No strong opinions, but i chose Debian because it's open source in it's nature and because of stability and software compatibility, two fundamental properties in an OS, in which Debian excels,
57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?: No, but with Desktop Mode they do act nice.
58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?: Idrk, generally avoid
59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?: Love webrings! I'm on a lot of webrings rn xd
60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?: No i rlly don't, even if i did sometimes think of making some web shrines.
61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?: Honest opinion, yeah
62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?: Absolutely no idea, there aren't any rules or guidelines on the internet, just get a server and start writing code!
63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?: No
64. What are your favourite resource sites?: I do not use resource sites! I only really use the 88x31 gif collection at cyber.dabamos.de
65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?: Using this "window" paradigm that i developed more than half a year ago- it's just way too convenient and looks sick when done right!!
66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?: Do not conform to ideal website norms
67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?: I have no idea how you can "hard-code" a style presumably without CSS. I always do keep my stuff on /styles/common.css but sometimes i use inline CSS for hyper specific purposes.
68. What do you think of frameset layouts?: They're nice IF done correctly
69. How about table-based layouts?: How tf do you even use a table for that purpose?
70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?: Yeah i do lols, i always keep 2 sidebars on the sides of my webpage. They are way more useful than one may imagine!
71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?: Realistically HTML lol
72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.: An HTML page without CSS is like a pizza with zero toppings, absolutely ridiculous
73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?: Yes ;-; i'm too hyperfixated on looks rather than content
74. Would you consider yourself a beginner? Or advanced? Somewhere in the middle?: At the technical level i'd say i am average!
75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?: Yup. I look at the source of every single site i visit xd
76. How did YOU learn how to make websites?: Gifted power
77. Do you ever force elements to do things they're not supposed to?: Sometimes yes, other times i just give up entirely
78. Thoughts on floating elements?: They can be cute but also annoying
79. When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?: When sizing stuff i always prefer using relative measurements, mostly em, ch and %.
80. Do you have a favourite font?: I'd think the Futura font is my favourite one!
81. Would you run a website with another person? How would that work?: Omg yeah i would!! never thought of that, that would be cool, idrk how it will work
82. Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?: Yeah i always do!
83. Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?: Yes i do, my bookmarks bar is full of other ppl's sites, and i'd be supa happy knowing my website was in the bookmarks of someone else!
84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?: Uh idrk xd
85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?: Yes i do! Idrk what collecting in this case means lmao
86. How often and for how long are you online?: 3 to 4 hours a day
87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?: Webmasters like me!
88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?: Not really
89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?: I tried so hard to code but it's just not my strong thing lol. I do write a few bash and python scripts to automate some boring tasks
90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?: They're convenient and cool but they feel too "restrained"
91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?: I do! I made a hit counter mainly for statistics. While it does count a slew of bots accessing the html pages, with a bit of math and basic statistics i can guess the number of humans reading my website. I'm desperate for data about my website xD i often did think of collecting client info for that purpose but it's kinda hard to do and can be annoying for users
92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?: I do not
93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?: Yeah, straight on my editor, live
94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?: Well i get seriously called cool only like once or twice every year (no joke)
95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?: No i'm not, sometimes i like my old work!
96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?: I always try to leave archives of my old websites.
97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?: Yeah i do, it's my only real outlet lol
98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?: I don't have any best online friend (atleast not anymore)
99. And do you optimise the images on your website?: Yup, they're the heaviest elements on here
